From found tape:

This footage is from a thriftshop box find full of Video8 tapes, most of them computer backups—except this gem.
I’ve been carrying this around and meaning to edit it for ages (aka 10 years). I finally found some time to throw this together in an evening: super-rough, one-pass editing, no adjustments. I obviously didn’t figure out deinterlacing that well. I’ll post something better soon.
Regardless, this video cracks me up as I was in 8th grade when it was made, and enrolled in TAG (who remembers that?) where we did many random projects like this.

Ouch man. I could only make it half way through. It was painful enough living through middle school, I can’t stand watching it all over again!
(ALSO: Did you SEE that microphone they are using???)

aw, c’mon! it’s classic! the more you watch it, the less the pain. you’re missing the end where everyone completely loses interest, they call it quits, and all hell breaks loose.

From that crowd shot in the beginning, it looks like they lost interest before it even STARTED! As a teacher, that is like my worst nightmare… I don’t know how those middle school teachers do it!

haha, i guess so.
but there’s definitely an odd, intoxicating mix of effort and awkwardness. as well as decent video quality. it wasn’t a cheapo camcorder i don’t think—he’s manually focusing. also decent framing by the cameraman, though i do admit much running around and seasick-inducing wobbling of camera was cut.
